Cosmetic & functional gynecology

Vaginismus care is multidisciplinary — surgery is not the default.

Vaginismus involves involuntary tightening of pelvic floor muscles that makes penetration painful or impossible. It is treatable, and the treatments with the strongest support are not surgical.

Care planning and patient support related to Cosmetic gynecology

What is this treatment?

The muscle response is involuntary — it is not something a person chooses or can simply relax away. It frequently coexists with pain conditions, anxiety about pain, and previous difficult experiences, and it responds to structured treatment.

Why might it be considered?

People seek care for pain or impossibility of penetration, difficulty with gynecological examination or tampon use, and the distress that accompanies these.

Who may or may not be a suitable candidate?

Assessment first rules out other causes of painful intercourse — infection, dermatological conditions, endometriosis, hormonal changes and scarring among them — because those have their own treatments.

Medical assessment and planning

A careful, unhurried assessment with consent at every step. Examination may be deferred or staged, and that is appropriate rather than a delay.

How the treatment generally works

Treatment commonly combines several elements, tailored to the person:

  • pelvic floor physiotherapy, including relaxation and graded exposure work
  • psychosexual therapy or counselling where anxiety or previous experience is a factor
  • medical treatment of any coexisting cause of pain
  • partner involvement where the person wishes it
  • in selected cases and after specialist assessment, injection-based muscle treatment

Preparation

Bring any previous assessments and note what has already been tried. Treatment usually runs over weeks, so consider what can realistically be arranged near home.

Recovery and what to expect

Progress is gradual and measured in the ability to tolerate steps comfortably, not in a single event.

Risks and important considerations

Where injection treatment is used, risks include temporary weakness, discomfort, and the need for repeat treatment; benefit is not guaranteed.

Physiotherapy and psychosexual therapy are the mainstays. Doing nothing leaves a treatable condition untreated, which is not a neutral choice.

International travel considerations

Because treatment is delivered over time, an international trip is better used for assessment and a plan than for a promised single-visit cure. We can help arrange follow-up communication with the treating team.

How Wadi coordinates the journey

Medical assessment, diagnosis and treatment are provided by the relevant licensed healthcare institution and physician. Wadi Health Tourism coordinates the international patient journey and related intermediary services.

Common questions

Yes, and often successfully. The treatments with the strongest support are physiotherapy and psychosexual approaches, usually in combination.
